Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Adha, is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It is celebrated in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion to Allah when he was willing to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) as an act of obedience. However, Allah replaced Ismail (AS) with a ram, signifying mercy and faith.
🔹 On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, the last Islamic month.
🔹 It coincides with Hajj, the pilgrimage to Makkah.
🔹 Celebrated for three days in many countries.
✔ Offered in mosques or open grounds.
✔ Includes a special khutbah (sermon).
✔ A goat, sheep, cow, or camel is sacrificed in remembrance of Ibrahim (AS).
✔ The meat is divided into three equal parts:
✔ Giving Sadaqah (charity) to the less fortunate.
✔ Visiting family and friends, sharing festive meals.
✔ Traditional dishes like Biryani, Kebabs, Sheer Khurma, and more.
✅ Perform Ghusl (purification bath) before Eid prayer.
✅ Wear new or clean clothes.
✅ Say Takbeer (“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar…”) loudly.
✅ Greet others with “Eid Mubarak” and make dua.
✅ Participate in charity and good deeds.
Bakrid teaches us faith, sacrifice, obedience, and generosity. It reminds Muslims to help the needy and strengthen their bond with Allah.
May Allah accept our sacrifices and bless us all! Eid-ul-Adha Mubarak! 🤲🐑🎉
